Walking through the lanes of Varanasi, you loose your sense of time, place and self and are accompanied by a constant sense of discovery. It is said that the city is home to some 330 million Gods. The lanes, the ghats and the river make up the fabric of Banaras ! After a short drive to the city centre, you start with a walking tour of the ancient city of Varanasi from the Dal Mandi which is a whole sale market for silk and Hindu ceremonial items. Continue to the Kite market and then onto Vishvanath Gali, which is the city’s oldest silk market. On the way, you will also see historical mosques, hidden alleys, bazaars, ancient Varanasi architecture, the world’s biggest crematorium and local markets. And finally you arrive at the Dasashwamedha Ghat for the famous evening aarti, after which we drive you back to the hotel.

Marriage holds a very sacred place in Indian society and renewing your vows in the traditional Indian way is something that will stay with you for a life-time. Just before sun set, two village women escort you to the beautifully decorated ‘mandap’ on the Kund, singing traditional wedding songs. The priest takes you through the ceremony, chanting ‘shlokas’ (verses) from the Vedas around the ‘sacred fire’. This is followed by a private candle light dinner, while stars and the moon create their own music.
