The Dudhwa Tiger Reserve comprises of three distinct areas. The Dudhwa National Park is known for the one horned rhino, wild elephants and swamp deer and the elusive tiger; The Kishanpur Wild Life Sanctuary is the more favoured area for the tiger, various types of deer and birds; and The Katarniaghat Wild Life Sanctuary is one of the best places to see the gharial and dolphins.
Caught up in your hectic city life, how often have you desired but not managed to do the basics in life – like riding a tractor or tilling the fields. We take you on a tractor around our village (you can also try your hand at driving one!) and show you the homes of our villagers. Experience how they live with little, but happily.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to study under a tree, or use chalk and slate instead of pen and paper, much less a computer? Join the students as they go through their day at school and yes – teach them a subject that is of interest to you! (School timings apply).
Get out of your ‘city mode’ and take a short drive to the swamp areas in the jungle. Enjoy your snacks, shots of rum or vodka, tea or coffee on a terrace next to the swamp, as you see the sun go down and the only sound is the rustling of the leaves of the forest trees. Fancy a bit of fishing as well?
Unbelievable as it may sound, Nepal is just a convenient 40kms / 55 minutes drive from the Lodge. We take you via GauriPhanta, the Indian side of the border to Dhangadhi which is the town in Nepal. Small shops dot the border selling their local brew, Nepalese food, trinkets and arte-facts.
Time to bring out the ‘macho’ in you. Take our Royal Enfield – and vroom across the mud tracks of the forest. You also have the option of being out on the wilderness, driving a Willy’s Jeep. Just a word of caution – there are no road signs or direction boards – your intuition will bring you back to the Lodge !
The Lodge is set in hundreds of acres of forest and sugar cane plantation. Accompanied by one of our villager’s and your picnic hamper, you trek along forest swamps, through sugar cane plantations and through the forest area, loosing yourself to the quiet which surrounds you. Enjoy your snacks and coffee on the way back.
Take a mountain-bike and ride through mud tracks in the forest to explore the surroundings for yourself.
